History

Firewall Centers was founded as a 501(c) (3) organization in July 2003 with the mission of transforming students into servant leaders. The vision was developed after the tragic drug overdose of a thirteen year old girl. Andy and Janeth Fernandez began meeting weekly in the very mobile home park where the young girl lived and died, providing wholesome activities and positive object lessons for its youth.

However, these meetings lacked the life-changing impact needed to affect change.  Most were left unsupervised during after school hours, placing them at risk for engaging in juvenile crime and experimenting with drugs, alcohol, and sex. Recognizing the need for intervention, it was decided that a daily positive presence was needed and an after-school mentoring and tutoring center was established.

Now, Firewall is a dynamic and expanding organization with multiple campuses in and around South Florida actively developing leaders and changing the destinies of young people in the area. And we’re just getting started.
